GAMEDAY FASHION: TIP OF THE WEEK
A Glam Slam recently introduced you to chicka-d, a sporty yet fashion-forward line of women's collegiate fan gear, with clothes that allow you to showcase your school spirit and maintain your own unique sense of style.
Now that college football season is officially underway, the brand is also hosting 13 segments called the "Tailgating Fashion Tip of the Week" on Gameday Rivals.
Check out the video below, as chicka-d founder, Lauren Polt, schools female fans on ways to "stay cool while looking hot" this football season. This week's tip focuses on the must-have item when it comes to gameday fashion: a basic dress. No only is it the perfect base to accessorizing, but dresses are extremely versatile, making it easy to customize a look based on your own personal style.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL UNIS RETURN TO COMBAT
What's a new college football season without new uniforms? Many schools will hit the field with familiar fashions while others have updated their look. This morning Nike unveiled the Pro Combat Uniforms for the 2010-2011 season. The uniquely designed uniforms will be worn by ten of the top college football programs for at least one game this year.
Dubbed the "Nike Pro Combat System of Dress," the unis are engineered to provide superior protection and durability, while utilizing advanced fabrics and tooling that reduce weight. In addition to these performance benefits, this year Nike also worked closely with each university to bring relevant elements of the school's heritage into the overall design. The collaborations resulted in uniforms that infuse the past and the future, hence the Nike tag: "Born of Tradition. Built for Speed." To learn more about the inspiration behind each uniform, visit here.
Last year's Pro Combat unis had received mixed reviews, as many fans believed they were a bit too futuristic-looking in design. The "next generation" of these uniforms are a vast improvement, especially since the head-to-toe white hues from last season are noticeably absent.
Here's the gear that the ten participating schools will suit up in when they hit the field, as well as their new team taglines:
Ohio State: "1942" Oregon State: "Beaver Nation"
TCU "Til Hell Freezes Over" PITT: "Let's Brawl"
ALABAMA: "Roll Tide" MIAMI: "The U"
FLORIDA: "Pride" BOISE STATE: "Bring the Hammer"
WEST VIRGINIA: "No Doubt" VIRGINIA TECH: "Ut Prosim"

SHOW YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT, CHICKA-D STYLE
We are only days away from the official start of college football season. Campuses all across the country have been filling up with students eagerly awaiting kick-off and college football fans are some of the most loyal and passionate fans out there.
That passion translates to their fan gear as well, as head-to-toe team colors, painted faces and dyed hair are often part of the extravagant ensembles seen in the stands. But for the ladies, finding a way to infuse school spirit and style can be a challenge. And football game days tend to go from day to night which can result in a major fashion dilemma: finding fan gear to take you from fieldside to the frat party.
Thanks to sports lovers and fashionistas like chicka-d founder, Lauren Polt, baggy jerseys and oversize tees have been replaced and sports fan fashion has come a long way. chicka-d is a women's collegiate clothing line, quickly becoming the top choice by female sports fans, alumni and students across the nation.
Polt, the company's founder and head designer, is a University of Texas at Austin alum whose many trips to the local college bookstore had left her longing for fan gear that was original, feminine and fashionable. So she created chicka-d: "Clothes for the game. Clothes for Spirit. Clothes for life." In the collection, fans will find everything from strapless, drop-waist and bubble hem dresses, to halter tanks, tunics and shrugs, all featuring school colors and logos. chicka-d will be expanding its offerings to include more than 30 additional university lines this fall. For a full list of schools, check here.
But what's even better? All pieces are $50 or less. Check out some of A Glam Slam's favorite chicka-d fashions:

UCHIC CROWNS TOP COLLEGE FASHIONISTA
When gameday hits, college campuses are full of students sporting apparel in their school colors. The "appropriate" way to dress varies among schools, as many traditions dictate gameday fashions. But there are ways to stand out among the masses in any stands, without sacrificing team spirit or style.
University Chic, "the #1 college guide for women" recently held a "Top College Fashionista" contest, sponsored by Lady Fanatics, The Collegiate Liscensing Company (CLC) and University Chic. Entrants from all over the country were asked to showcase their fashion talents by transforming ordinary gameday gear into stylish outfits for all occasions. And one lucky student blogger would win the title of "Top College Fashionista."
Kaitlin Duffy, a recent graduate of Auburn University, was named the contest winner. A Glam Slam spoke with Kaitlin about her personal style, gameday faux pas and fashions in the Auburn stands. Take a look:
AGS: Tell us about the UChic contest and how you got involved?
KD: UChic was looking for student bloggers. We had to take 5 photos of our gametime looks and include tips on how to use the gear from their sports clothing website and implement it into gameday gear. The contest was awesome. It was great to have Auburn students and my friends and family back me up on this and interesting to see how all of the other contestants thought about fashion in different ways. It was cool to see everyone’s creative take on the assignment and how their ideas varied because of the difference in schools.
AGS: Describe your personal style. Which brands do you like?
KD: The brands I like are different from the ones I usually buy because of their cost. I love to shop at J. Crew and Anthropolgie and I like Forever 21 a lot because it’s totally affordable and you can find great, versatile pieces there. I also would love to buy things right off the runway if I could.
KD: In my five looks, I wanted to represent what a typical Auburn University girl looks like. We are pretty preppy. To describe fashion in Auburn, “Keep it Classy” is the mantra of Sorority Girls. This style of dress is similar among other SEC schools too. I wanted my fashions to be realistic, based on what an Auburn girl would wear.
AGS: What are the biggest fashion faux pas (girls or guys) that you’ve noticed in the Auburn stands?
KD: I think the biggest fashion faux pas is the guys who go shirtless and have AU painted on their chest, because most boys are usually wearing button downs, kacki pants and bowties in the stands. Many girls are wearing dresses and a large majority of students still dress in a t-shirt and jeans or a jean skirt.
AGS: What is your favorite thing to wear on gameday?
KD: My favorite thing to wear on gameday is a dress with accessories. I always wear navy, orange or white because those are our school colors. I usually choose a white dress because that’s the easiest color to find and pair it with accessories in orange and blue. Adding accessories helps to make an outfit your own.
AGS: There are more and more brands creating fashionable gameday gear (Victoria's Secret PINK; Alyssa Milano TOUCH). Do you see this as an upcoming trend, meaning that gameday gear is starting to make its way into mainstream fashion?
KD: I would definitely say yes, it’s the direction that gameday fashion is going. In fact, Victoria’s Secret set up a tent on campus in the Fall to showcase their collection. They brought all kinds of Auburn Victoria's Secret gear. Girls would not only wear it to the games, but even to class.
AGS: What’s next for you? Could we see gameday gear design in your future?
KD: I just graduated in May. I was a PR major so I am interning right now at a firm in Atlanta. I don’t know if I would be designing anything in the future, but I’d love to do what I did with this contest. I really love to promote things.

BEST-DRESSED COACHES IN COLLEGE HOOPS
Who says brackets are only meant for games? CollegeInsider.com has completed their annual contest to determine the "best-dressed coach in America." The 65-slot bracket seeded coaches and divided them by region, to determine the NCAA basketball head coach and assistant coachwith the greatest sense of style.
For the third time, Drexel's Bruiser Flint has been voted college basketball's best-dressed head coach. Though he was the number 2 seed in his region, Flint defeated his opponents in the "Sensational 16," "Elegant 8," and "Fashionable Four" before edging out Campbell's Robbie Laing in the finals. And while there's no doubt that Flint is a man of style when he hits the court, fans are still questioning how Villanova's Jay Wright and his Gucci suits were ousted in the round of 16. But then again, what's a bracket without a few upsets?
So what make Flint the best-dressed? Take a look at some of his fashion choices:
And let's not forget assistant coach honors. Bacari Alexander is not only the Univeriry of Michigan's new assistant basketball coach, but he is also the best-dressed assistant coach in the nation. Like Flint, this is nothing new for Bacari. This year marks his 4th title as best-dressed.
Alexander faced off in the finals with Old Dominion coach, Jim Corrigan, and came out on top.
How about a head coach vs. assistant coach fashion face-off? Which of these guys would you choose?

A GLAM SLAM'S JERSEY MADNESS
"March Madness" has truly lived up to it's name, based on the first two rounds of tournament play. There were gimme games that turned into major upsets, unforgettable buzzer-beaters and memorable overtime wins. #1 seeded Kansas lost to #9 seeded Northern Iowa, Notre Dame and Georgetown were ousted in Round 1 and Michigan State defeated Maryland with a shot at the buzzer.
And based on the results thus far, there's a 99 percent chance that your bracket is a total mess. We've only completed Round 2 and NCAA fans have resorted to ripping, shredding and burning their brackets, as they are forced to pay up on lost bets.
Now that we've reached the Sweet 16, A Glam Slam has developed a new bracket, one that's not based on the gametime winners and losers. Since the road to the Final Four is sure to be full of more surprises on the court, A Glam Slam wants its readers to choose a winner based on their uniform instead.
Below you'll find the Sweet 16 NCAA matchups, represented by their unis. Vote for your favorites and they will move on to the Elite 8, Final Four and eventually to the championship. Will A Glam Slam's Jersey Madness winner match the actual NCAA men's basketball champion?

NIKE DUNKS "COLLEGE PACK"
When you play college basketball you are representing your school. And when you watch college basketball you are also representing your school. College students are some of the most die-hard fans out there, who attend games dripping in maize and blue, or red and white, or whatever their school colors may be.
Back in the 1980's NIke had introduced the Nike Dunks "Be True to Your School" colorways collection of shoes, which celebrated some of the most storied programs in college bball, including Michigan, UNLV and Kentucky among others. The collection offered those die-hard fans another way to showcase their team support.
And now, the hottest shoe from 1985 is back. Just like old times, Nike has recently released the Nike Dunk "College Pack" to continue the tradition. The pack consists of three different colored sneakers, meant to represent three different universities: Syracuse, St. John's and North Carolina. Featuring the signature red, orange and blue colors of these schools, these high kicks evoke the "Be True to Your School" vibe, with a modern touch. Take a look:
For the students at those schools, you can show your school spirit and pick these up at Nike retailers. As for everyone else, for a pair of the Nike "Be True to Your School" Dunks, check out ebay.
