At only 27 years old, Spanish road bicycle racer, Alberto Contador, has already built an impressive list of cycling victories. He was one of the youngest Tour de France winners ever, when he took home the title at age 24, in 2007. And from there his career continued to progress. He is only the fifth racer in history to win all three Grand Tours (Tour de France, Giro d'italia, Vuelta a Espana) of road cycling. Now Contador is poised to take the title once again in the 2010 Tour de France, which will culminate on July 25th.
On top of his cycling skills, Contador has had some extra support for this year's Tour de France. His fans were able to accompany Alberto during a Tour stage, as 250 lucky winners had the opportunity to have their names written all over the Astana leader’s bike. The bike will be auctioned off and the money raised will go to the Alberto Contador Foundation, dedicated to the fight against cerebral stroke and to promote cycling and bicycle as alternative transport. To further support this cause, Contador has also launched an online store, where fans can find various fashion items related to their idol.
And
while the coveted yellow jersey is his ultimate goal, Contador opts for
high-end designs off the course. Though he has plenty of sponsors including the
likes of GIRO (glasses and helmets) and SIDI (competitive performance gear),
none are as stylish as Hugo Boss. In addition to its global, prestigious
appeal, Contador prefers the brand because "it's comfortable and my suits
work." A fashion-forward cyclist...now that's 'hot.'
Alberto Contador is Who's Haute.
