With
5 Olympic medals under your belt including the coveted women's "all-around
gold," what more could a 21 year-old girl need? A fashion line of course.
This past weekend, U.S. Olympian and World Champion, Nastia Liukin, unveiled her new apparel range, "Supergirl by Nastia Liukin," in Times Square. The NYC event, which kicks off a five-market tour, featured live gymnastic exhibitions, dance performances, fashion presentations and onsite stretching and tumbling classes for young girls, the target of Nastia's new line.
The "Supergirl by Nastia" collection was created for 4-12 year-old girls and is
available exclusively at JCPenney. The gymnast worked with both JCPenny and DC Comics to develop the line, which features "trend-right, affordable apparel that
encourages a message of empowerment, creativity, strength, intelligence and
independence -- the symbolic attributes and S-Shield of Supergirl, the
iconic DC Comics super heroine."
But this actually isn't Nastia's first foray into the fashion world. She's been designing her own leotards since she was 12 and has a leotard line with GK Elite Sportswear [The Cut]. Now she's using her talents to inspire young girls through her gymnastics skills and style.
The Supergirl line
retails from $20-$38 and includes active fleece, dresses and tunics, knit
pants, signature Supergirl tees, dancewear, fashion leggings and shrug tops.
