A
prestigious Italian design team meets a prestigious English football team as Dolce & Gabbana and the Chelsea Football Club have joined forces for a fashion and sports
collaboration. The players of Chelsea will start Britain's Premiere League season next month in high-style, giving female fans even more reasons to
swoon.
In what appears to be a recurring pattern as of late, the iconic fashion brand has signed a three-year partnership deal with the Chelsea Club, similar to the way that DKNY teamed up with the NY Yankees and Joseph Abboud with the NY Giants. As part of this new deal, Dolce & Gabbana will design formal and casual wear for the players, along with suits for the coach and staff. They will also create the “Dolce & Gabbana Lounge” at Stamford Bridge Stadium and re-design the club’s main office reception.
The design duo are no strangers to the world of sports, especially football. They recently outfitted the Italian national team with formal wear at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and featured Italian soccer stars in recent underwear ads. Unfortunately for us, the new styles created for Chelsea's soccer studs are bit more covered up.
All fashions revolve around the color blue, since it is associated with the Chelsea team. The player's outfits include a three-piece suit with a two-button jacket, dark blue shirt and dark blue jacquard tie. Also featured in the wardrobe is a blue wool and cashmere coat embroidered with the club’s logo. For a more casual look, the guys will sport blue denim jeans and a blue button-down poplin shirt [WWD]. The designers have even created a more feminine blue suit, black trench and black high heels to accommodate the ladies on staff.
