NY
Yankees fan or not. Baseball fan or not. There's no denying that taking in a
game in the Legends Suites at Yankee Stadium is certainly an
unprecedented experience.
This
past weekend, even YES broadcast announcers Michael Kay and Al Leiter discussed the Suites and how they themselves would be eager to
experience a game from the Legends view.
A Glam Slam was lucky enough to be given Legends Suites tickets last Friday evening, to see the Yankees take on the Chicago White Sox. Here’s the play-by-play of “A Night in the Life of a Legend,” one of the most coveted tickets in sports.
In his farewell to the old Yankee Stadium, Captain Derek Jeter said, “There’s a lot of tradition, a lot of history and a lot of memories. We want to have you take the memories of this field, add them to the new memories that will come at the new Yankee Stadium and continue to pass them on from generation to generation.” For A Glam Slam, last Friday is a memory that won't be forgotten. And the sadness for the little that remains of the old stadium is immediately replaced with the wonder that is the new stadium, especially when you're headed to the Legends Suites.
A Glam Slam had heard about the exclusive, high-end amenities
and features of the Legends Suite, but that still didn't help prepare for what
was in store.
The private Legends entrance, elevator and concourse make you feel like a VIP as soon as you step through the doors. After receiving a wristband to ensure access throughout the Suite (similar to an all-inclusive resort), guests are immediately greeted by an unusually large crowd of friendly staff members who make it clear that they are there to cater to your every need. Not to mention a nice greeting from these Yankee greats in the Entrance Hall:
Dining:
Guests have a choice of three dining rooms which offer an amazing selection of all-inclusive food and beverages. Featuring a la carte and performance cooking stations, cuisine included everything from sushi to lamb chops and vegetarian food to kosher food, with servers waiting on you hand and foot. And there’s no doubt that you’ll be in good (and wealthy) company. Glam Gal stood in line at the salad station next to Legends Suites regular and former NY Mayor, Rudy Guiliani.
To
satisfy your sweet tooth after a gourmet meal, the Suite offers a pretty
remarkable dessert station complete with ice cream sundaes, candy and other delectable treats.
The dining decor resembled a high-end restaurant with an abundance of
flat screen TV's, views of the stadium and perfect Yankee touches, including a
full wall mural of the old stadium and Yankee branded serving trays and water
bottles. Every few minutes you have to remind yourself that you're actually at
a baseball game. Take a peek at one of the Legends Suites dining rooms and
the dessert table:
As
if the Suite dining wasn’t enough, in-seat wait service is also available to
satisfy your mid-game cravings. In addition to typical ballpark fare like
hotdogs and hamburgers, you can indulge in crab cakes, truffle fries, lobster rolls and even white wine
right in the comfort of your seats.
And
to further ensure that you never go hungry, there are “grab ‘n’ go” food and
beverage stations throughout the Suite. A wall of treats (seen below) is a
free-for-all for fans at any time during the game.
Restrooms:
Nothing is worse than having to leave the game just to find an overly-crowded restroom, with a long line and no toilet paper. Not for a Legend. All guests have access to private bathrooms just a short distance from any of the Legends seats. With no lines and plenty of flat screen TV's mounted above the sinks, it’s a guarantee that you won’t miss a minute of the action.
View
from the Seats:
All
of this goodness and we’ve haven’t even gotten to the seats. The cushioned
seats with teak arms that is. Whether you’re seated on the first baseline,
third baseline or behind home plate, the view from any one of the 1,800 Legend
Seats is unreal.
A Glam Slam's seats were directly in line with the Yankee’s on-deck circle. The proximity to the players and to the dugouts will leave you speechless. You can literally feel the speed of the ball as it hits the catcher's glove or when a hitter makes contact. You can see the facial expressions on your favorite players. It's the closest you will get to the game without actually being on the field. Check out the view from the seats:
So was there any downside to a night in the Legends Suites? Yes. It was having to leave.

Great story Heather! Looks like the experience was a bit different than taking in a game from the upper deck.
