The ticket to a perfect gift for the crazy sports fan is the Ticket Stub Diary. Ticket stubs are great for display and allow great sports memories to last a lifetime. And you can bet the biggest fans don't dispose of their tickets. This diary comes with clear sleeves that fit a variety of ticket sizes, plus space in the margin to record special memories from each sporting event. Price: $12.00
Even the biggest sports fans are not always blessed with seats on the 50 yard-line, behind home plate or courtside, so they’ll take sitting in the nosebleed section just to attend a game live. But now those games will be even more enjoyable with a great pair of binoculars to ensure they don’t miss any of the action. Your fan will go crazy over these Bushnell Image View Binoculars. They combine high magnification with a compact digital camera. Sports nuts now have option to capture, record and save any image they see, without missing a second of the game! Price: $160.00
If you’d prefer a cheaper alternative, try the Sports Team binoculars with matching pouch. While they might not have the digital option, they do display team spirit. Price: $40.00
Let them root for their favorite team right in the comfort of their own home. Sportrobes are luxurious, made of soft terry velour and they feature oversize pockets. They are designed to proudly display authentic twill lettering, patches and team logos, and you can customize with a name and number embroidered on the back. There are tons to choose from whether they’re an NBA, NCAA or even a Nascar fan. Prices range from $99.00 to $199.00
Fathead has come through once again with a gift that’s the ultimate football fan’s fantasy. The NFL Fantasy Draft Dry Erase Board is so BIG, it can hold up to 14 teams and 18 draft rounds. There’s even space for trash-talking during the draft! This is a total must-have for the football fanatic. Price: $28.00
Nothing would mean more to a sports fan than to own a piece
of their greatest sports memories. Literally. Steiner Sports is the leader in
sports memorabilia and sports collectibles and offers truly special gifts for fans, including items like the Syracuse
Carrier Dome Court From 2003 Plaque, Final Season Texas Stadium Game Used Turf
Plaque or Boston Red Sox Game Used Dirt Plaque. You name it, they’ve got it. If you’ve got money to
spare, take a look at their autographed items as well. Price: $20.00 - $25.00.
Prices increase for autographed memorabilia.
The Sportscast Wireless Baseball Scoreboard delivers up-to-date game stats for every MLB team, during every inning of every game. Scores are received via satellite with updates every 15 minutes! It even displays relevant stats during the regular season and playoffs. Now sports nuts will not have to stress if they can’t be in front of a TV for a big game; the Scoreboard is perfectly sized to keep on your desk, in the car, or anywhere you need to go. Price: $70.00
The biggest nightmare for a die-hard sports fan is not getting to watch his/her favorite team’s game because it’s only on local channels and they’re too far away. But each sport offers a special cable package, allowing you to get all the games. Sports channel packages can give local, regional, national and international coverage to everything from small town college games to international games. Not only will the packages provide access to an entire season of any particular sport, but satellite services also include exclusive and premium options as well. There’s no doubt this gift will win them over. Options will vary so check with your cable provider.
And there you have it, A Glam Slam's complete guide to "sporty-style" gift-giving this season. Happy last-minute shopping!

It was an interesting mix of skating, music and fashion, as surfwear brand, Quiksilver, celebrated its 40th Anniversary last week at The Grand Palais in Paris. The Grand Palais is typically the home to high-class events such as Chanel fashion shows and art exhibitions but for two days, is was the home to thousands of pro-skaters, surfers and extreme sports fans. This was the first action sports event ever held inside The Grand Palais, featuring the largest skating ramp ever built in Europe.
Among the event attractions were a 40-year fashion retrospective inside the venue and a skate ramp open to the public painted by graffiti artist André Saraiva.
Chichi Menendez of Fandango.com teamed up with Quiksilver to provide an exhibition "chronicling 40 years of urban, sport and surf fashions from psychedelic board shorts to today’s high-tech helmets with built-in MP3 players." [WWD]
Over 30 Global Quiksilver surf, skate and snow athletes joined the celebration and the event culminated with special appearances from skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk and World Champion surfer, Kelly Slater. Slater has been sponsored by Quiksilver for 19 years and has also just signed another five-year contract that could include a signature clothing line. Hawk has been sponsored by the line for quite some time as well.
Check out www.quiksilver.com for video footage of the event.

One of the most popular sportswear brands, PUMA, has
launched a new retail concept in Chicago’s State Street development. This
store, which marks PUMA’s second retail location in Chicago, will feature items
that span the entire line, a first from the brand among its U.S. stores. The
PUMA State Street store will include everything from everyday sportswear needs
such as sneakers and cleats to items from the high-fashion collaborations with
designers Alexander McQueen and Mihara Yasuhiro.
According to the press release, President and General Manager of PUMA North America, Jay Piccola, explained “During these tough economic times, the brands that stay true to themselves are the ones that will survive. Now more than ever, it’s important for PUMA to showcase the best of the brand to the world.”
The decision for a new store opening in Chicago stemmed from a variety of factors, including location, city culture and a community known for their love of shopping and sports. And both the local Chicago consumers and tourists have a lot to look forward to with the two-floor, 8,000 square foot space.
PUMA also held an opening event yesterday and enlisted local celebrities, athletes, and other public figures to work the floor. Their “wages” will be donated to the Chicago Red Stars Charitable Foundation.
