RE-SHAPE YOUR BODY WITH REEBOK

Reebok’s newest invention has left many women curious. Can sneakers be the answer to our prayers for a better body?

You may have seen the commercials for Reebok’s new EasyTone athletic shoes, which claim to help women get fit, as they tighten and tone the biggest problem areas: the legs and butt.  Apparently, the secret is the “balance ball inspired technology” under the heels and forefoot, which engage the muscles in your legs and glutes. And Reebok says its EasyTone sneakers tone calves and hamstrings 11 percent more than regular walking shoes and claim the shoes tone glutes 28 percent more.

Though they sound like miracle workers, the sneakers have not come without controversy. Not only do their claims come into question but many disapprove of the EasyTone commercial which features a very toned model, lecturing on how the shoes work to improve your balance and posture and increase muscle stimulation. Oh, and there are several close-ups of her backside too.

RUNNING IN HEELS

Shoe addicts rejoiced, at the National Stiletto Championship Race in Paris. Online shoe sale website, Sarenza.com, came up with the idea for the race where 96 finalists competed in a three-part, 180-meter relay. Runners had to wear heels that were at least three inches high.

The Championship Race took place on an indoor track in the old Stock Exchange building in Paris and thirty-two teams competed for the ultimate prize: 3,000 euros worth of shoes. Before the finals, there were heats all across France with more than 400 participants who had entered the race nationally. But this years winners were three young Parisian women who called themselves "Les Cocottes Codec" or "The Darling Chicks."

A bunch of shopaholics racing for shoes could definitely be dangerous. But don’t worry because the Red Cross was on hand in case of injury. Or maybe to mend a broken heel?

ROMO IS NOW A STARTER OFF THE FIELD

It’s Thanksgiving day.  For many of us, that means family, food and of course, football. Whether you’re a fan or not, you might want to tune in to this afternoon’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders. Tony Romo won’t just be the focus on the field as the Cowboys starting quarterback, but the football hunk will also be appearing during the commercial breaks. The Starter clothing brand will be unveiling a new commercial featuring Romo and their new “Never Stop” slogan.

The commercial, which was shot in the off-season by famed director Dave Meyers, shows Romo breaking tackles while having his football equipment torn off. As he crosses the goal line, he is wearing Starter workout gear.

According to Romo, "The whole idea is to relate to everybody. They've done a great job with the product and it's affordable and that means a lot to me. It's something that can withstand the wear and tear and it's cool." [Dallas Cowboys blog]

And Romo will certainly have no problem affording his own workout gear. This deal with Starter is believed to be the largest footwear and apparel endorsement in NFL history, with a 5 year, $10 million dollar contract. Romo will be featured in print, online and outdoor billboards as well as the commercial.

WHO'S HAUTE? THURSDAYS: TIM LINCECUM

Tim Lincecum, right-handed pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, won his second consecutive Cy Young Award last week. He’s only the 8th player in baseball history to win the award in two straight seasons. At only 25 years-old, Lincecum has become the face of the Giants team, he has dominated NL batters, and he’s established himself as one of the best pitchers in the game.

From his unconventional throwing mechanics to his unique fashion sense, Linceum has a style all his own, both on and off the field. Teammates have nicknamed him "The Freak" because his size, wild windup and unique pitches manage to translate into great results. And when it comes to media appearances, rather than sporting the usual business professional clothing like his teammates, Lincecum opts for a more casual look. Reminiscent of a "skater," he can often be seen wearing a plaid shirt and a beanie. 

As evident in his fashion choices, Lincecum is known for his laid back and relaxed demeanor. As an avid video gamer, you may have seen him and his avatar in the commercial for the MLB 2K9 game. He possesses the attitude that baseball and life are both games of fun.

NEW YORK METS GO RETRO FOR NEXT SEASON

New York Mets fans had high expectations for the 2009 season. They hoped that a brand new stadium would be the beginning of a memorable year. Instead, they were plagued with injuries and losses and memories that the fans, and the team, hope to forget. 

Now the team is taking a cue from the early, more successful days of the franchise. The Mets announced yesterday that they will wear a new pinstriped home uniform that "combines old and new elements of Mets uniforms" as their primary home jersey. The Mets created the retro uniform following positive responses to the jerseys that the 1969 World Champion Mets wore during their 40th anniversary celebration in August. [Mets.com] The Mets will also continue to wear their white uniform at home with the black jerseys as an alternate. 

These new uniforms will go on sale beginning this Friday, November 27th, at Mets Team Stores and at Mets.com.

Could a fresh new look mean a fresh new start for a struggling Mets team?

ARTEST VISITS KIMMEL IN HIS "SEXY SHORTS"

L.A. Lakers forward, Ron Artest, stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night and to say that he "dressed down" for the interview would definitely be an understatement. Wearing nothing but his boxer shorts and Jimmy's name shaved into the back of his head, Artest amused the audience as he discussed everything from introducing Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, to a business meeting with Kobe Bryant in the shower. He also addressed the recent story shared by ESPN.com writer, Bill Simmons, explaining the time Artest boarded the team bus in his underwear.

Artest is no stranger to breaking the rules. After this fashion mishap, one can only wonder what Commissioner David Stern will have to say about this NBA dress code violation...

PINK IS THE NEW BLACK FOR FEMALE GOLFERS

Many male golfers have a distinct style. Tiger Woods is never without his Nike red polo on Sundays and “the shark” collection will always be synonymous with Greg Norman. These days, a new trend has developed among female golfers: Pink.

Women are now the fastest growing segment of the golfing industry and companies are trying to attract as many females as possible. Pink has been one such way to do so. Pink polos, hats and skirts are dominating course wear, in addition to the pink clubs, tees and golf balls being used as well. The color is becoming so prominent among female golf fashions, that’s it is considered to be one of the basics, alongside black and white. And in a sport that has been dominated by men, pink is a way for women, especially younger female golfers, to add a bit of femininity to the golf world.

Paula Creamer is the most notorious pink fanatic and has even been nicknamed “Pink Panther.” But other professional stars including Natalie Gulbis and Japan's Ai Miyazato have also incorporated pink into their looks at recent tournaments.

BRADY TALKS FASHION AND FOOTBALL

Three Super Bowl rings, a beautiful wife and insanely good looks. Tom Brady certainly has it all. The only downside? He plays for the New England Patriots. Just kidding.

Now Brady can add “GQ Man of the Year” to his already impressive resume. After coming back from a devastating knee injury last season, he has lead his team to a 7-3 record thus far, for the 2009/2010 season. GQ magazine took notice and named Brady the “Comeback Man of the Year.” He is one of five fashionable men to appear on the cover of GQ’s annual “Men of the Year” issue.

For GQ, Brady seemed like an obvious choice based on his play on the field and his style off the field. Within the magazine, he dishes on his family, football and fashion. He reveals that his style is his own explaining “I think any man who lets a woman pick what he should wear... I mean, you gotta draw the line somewhere as a man.” But there’s no doubt he’s been lucky enough to receive style tips from some great men. Brady may be the only NFL quarterback to have met with Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld, at Lagerfeld’s house in Paris and dine with Christian Dior designer, John Galliano. [Boston Globe]

A WALK IN JORDAN'S SHOES

Every basketball player aspires to be the next Michael Jordan. While that might be a difficult feat to accomplish, Miami Heat guard, Dwayne Wade, will get to spend some time in Jordan’s shoes, at the very least. The much anticipated Nike Air Jordan 2010 sneakers will be launching on February 13th and will commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the line. And Jordan has personally handpicked Wade to debut the shoe. The newest version of these iconic kicks will feature the signature red, black and white color scheme and retail for $170. While we’re on the subject, how about a little something for the ladies, perhaps the Air Jordan Stiletto? But don’t get too excited. This crazy creation may bear the same name, but the shoe did not come from the Jordan brand. And besides, we love Jordan and we love high heels, but together, this just doesn’t work.

It’s clear that fans and sports stars are truly devoted to Air Jordan Shoes, so why should Jordan’s family members be any different? Jordan’s son, Marcus, is a freshman guard at the University of Central Florida. He has said he will only wear his father’s Nike Air Jordan shoes because they hold a special meaning for the family. Well, Adidas certainly does not feel the same way. The University of Central Florida was in a contract with the brand and as a result of Marcus’s decision to wear Nike’s, the shoes have cost the school any future sponsorship with Adidas.
